Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, alongside his French partner Magalie Girard, clinched another gold medal in the ITF Masters 40+ World Championship Mixed Doubles category.
In an intense final, Aisam and Girard triumphed over Germany’s Katharina Rath and Andreas Thivessen with a 7-5, 6-3 victory. The match witnessed a dramatic comeback, as the Pakistani-French duo initially trailed 5-2 in the first set before rallying to take it 7-5. They then dominated the second set, securing the championship with a 6-3 win.
Expressing his joy, Aisam said: “I am truly grateful for this achievement! I thank Allah for giving me the strength to win another gold for Pakistan. This victory is my gift to the nation on the eve of Pakistan Day (March 23rd). Seeing Pakistan’s flag rise on the global stage is a moment of immense pride, reflecting our country’s resilience and determination.”
