In the UAE, individuals have access to three distinct visa options offering residency without employment obligations:
Remote Work Visa (One year): Expatriates can obtain a self-sponsored residence visa tailored for remote workers, allowing them to reside and work remotely in the UAE for one year. Critical eligibility criteria include proving remote employment with a non-UAE organization, maintaining a minimum monthly income of US$3,500, possessing a passport with at least six months’ validity, and securing valid health insurance for UAE residency. This visa also allows remote workers to sponsor their family members in the UAE.
Real Estate Investor Visa (Two- or 10-year visa): Real estate investors can secure a self-sponsored residence visa based on their property investments. Individuals must own property valued at Dh750,000 or more to qualify for a two-year visa, individually or jointly with a spouse. Alternatively, investors who purchase properties worth Dh2 million or more may be eligible for the coveted Golden Visa, which offers a 10-year residency. Golden Visa eligibility extends to investors acquiring property through specific local banks or approved real estate companies, including off-plan properties valued at least Dh2 million.
UAE Retirement Visa (Five years): Available for individuals aged 55 or older, the retirement visa provides a five-year residency option in the UAE. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate at least 15 years of work experience inside or outside the UAE or reach 55 at retirement. Financial requirements include owning properties totaling at least Dh1 million, possessing savings of no less than Dh1 million, or having a monthly income of Dh20,000 (Dh15,000 for Dubai residents). Bank statements from the preceding six months must be provided to support the financial criteria.
- Entrepreneur Visa (Flexible duration): Entrepreneurs and business owners can obtain a visa based on their investments and business activities in the UAE. The requirements and time of this visa option may vary depending on the nature and scale of the entrepreneurial venture. Typically, applicants must demonstrate a viable business plan, financial stability, and a commitment to contributing to the UAE’s economy. The entrepreneur visa offers flexibility in terms of residency duration and may be tailored to suit the business’s and its founders’ specific needs.
