33 Pakistani institutions make their mark in Times Higher Education’s Young University Ranking 2024

Times Higher Education’s Young University Rankings 2024 feature over 30 universities from Pakistan, showcasing the country’s growing presence in global higher education. While none of these universities secured a spot in the top 100, notable placements include the National University of Sciences and Technology at 142nd and COMSATS University Islamabad at 154th.

The rankings evaluate universities worldwide that are 50 years old or younger, focusing on teaching quality, research output, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Reputation is given less weight in the rankings.

In 2024, the list included 673 universities, up from 605 the previous year. Additionally, 499 institutions were categorized as “reporters,” providing data but not meeting ranking criteria.

Nanyang Technological University in Singapore topped the rankings for the second year, with Hong Kong also featuring strongly in the top 10. Turkey, India, and Iran had the highest number of ranked institutions.
