The federal government typically declares public holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram to facilitate the observance. This year, Muharram 9 and 10 are expected to be on Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17, respectively, with the holy month of Muharram likely beginning on July 8. If confirmed, the Day of Ashura, or Youm-e-Ashur, will be observed on July 17.
