The Sindh government has unveiled the Thar Desert Train Safari, an innovative initiative aimed at boosting tourism and highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region. This one-of-a-kind train journey offers travelers an immersive experience through Sindh’s picturesque landscapes, allowing them to explore its history, traditions, and stunning desert vistas.
Starting from Karachi, the train makes its way through Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas before arriving at Chhor, a town near Pakistan’s border with India. Along the route, passengers are treated to a variety of scenic and cultural attractions that showcase the diversity and beauty of Sindh.
Upon reaching Chhor, the adventure continues with activities including a mesmerizing sunset view, a cozy bonfire, live music performances, and a traditional dinner. Guests have the option to stay overnight on the train, in a campsite, or at the resorts in Parchi Jeveri, providing flexibility to suit different preferences.
The Sindh Tourism Development Corporation has set the ticket price at Rs30,000 per adult. Despite the premium cost, the safari has garnered significant interest, with the inaugural trip already fully booked. Officials have assured that additional trips will be organized to meet the growing demand from eager tourists.
The Sindh tourism minister expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its potential to provide visitors with an authentic and unforgettable experience of the Thar region. The initiative marks a major milestone in promoting local tourism while preserving the cultural heritage of Sindh, opening new doors for travelers to discover this hidden gem of Pakistan.
