Moosa Harraj has made history as the fourth Pakistani to be elected president of the Oxford University Student Union (OUSU). His achievement is particularly notable as he follows in the footsteps of prominent figures like Benazir Bhutto.
A student of Economics at Balliol College, Harraj secured the presidency in a highly competitive election, receiving 833 first-choice votes and defeating his rival, Chris Collins, by a margin of 200 votes. His victory not only reflects his strong support but also marks a significant milestone, as he becomes the first OUSU president of Pakistani Punjabi descent.
As the son of federal minister Raza Hayat Hiraj, Harraj joins a distinguished group of South Asian leaders who have held this prestigious role. His academic journey includes studying at Charterhouse School in Surrey and Aitchison College in Lahore before joining Oxford in 2023.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Faisal, extended his congratulations, calling Harraj’s victory a proud moment for Pakistan.
