Pakistan Joins China’s Space Station Training Programme

Pakistan has become the first international partner to take part in China’s space station training programme, a milestone confirmed by Suparco Director AKM Shafaat Ali. Under this initiative, two Pakistani astronauts will be selected based on academic excellence, physical fitness, and overall merit to undergo specialized training in China.

The agreement, initiated under the leadership of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, marks a significant advancement in space cooperation between Pakistan and China. The training will cover diverse scientific disciplines, including biology, aerospace engineering, physics, and astronomy, conducted aboard the China Space Station (CSS).

This collaboration is especially notable as China has previously reserved astronaut training exclusively for its own nationals. By opening its programme to Pakistan, China acknowledges the country’s growing presence in space science and further deepens the strategic partnership between the two nations.
