The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has begun work on launching an electric tram network to modernize Islamabad’s public transport and promote eco-friendly travel. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa confirmed that a feasibility study has been approved, following directions from the Prime Minister and Interior Minister.
The project will complement the city’s existing electric bus system, with initial routes proposed along major corridors including Rawat to Faisal Mosque and Jinnah Square to the Islamabad Airport. A Chinese consultancy firm is expected to carry out the study.
