The government will revive the Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul (ITI) freight train by December 31, 2025, after resolving trade, administrative, and logistical issues.
Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi said the service, halted since 2022, will boost trade between Pakistan, Iran, and Türkiye.
Pakistan also plans to link with Kazakhstan via Chaman under a new agreement.
Additionally, the Rohri–Karachi track rehabilitation will begin in July 2026, funded by the Asian Development Bank, while the upgraded Shalimar Express resumes on November 7.
Pakistan Railways earned Rs4.5 billion through cargo operations.
