Hum TV senior producer Umer Mukhtar has filed a lawsuit against Mahnoor Rahim after she publicly accused him of harassment. Mukhtar posted a defamation notice on his Instagram account. Rahim, a model and digital content creator based in Lahore, alleged that he sent inappropriate messages at 3 a.m., despite his marriage. In a related video, she claimed that several other women, including some who were underage at the time, reported receiving similar messages.
Mukhtar issued a legal statement stating that he plans to handle the issue through formal legal channels. He added that any actions would be targeted only at the concerned parties, in accordance with proper legal procedures, and that he would avoid further public comments, trusting the justice system.
Rahim also questioned Mukhtar’s connection to actress Hania Aamir, a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador, and asked how supporting safe digital spaces aligns with maintaining such friendships. She publicly asked how a safe digital environment for women could be promoted while being close to someone accused of exploiting underage girls.
After the videos gained widespread attention, Hania issued a clarification on Instagram, reaffirming her zero-tolerance stance on harassment and exploitation, emphasising the importance of these issues, and supporting those who speak out.
Several content creators supported Rahim’s claims; Quratulain Ahmed reported that Mukhtar messaged her late at night, asking her to stay on a call to help her sleep, and Reeja Jay shared similar messages. Rahim advised women to block accounts that send unsolicited messages at odd hours.
As of now, Mahnoor Rahim has not responded to the defamation notice.
