New Year Brings Higher TollTaxes on Highways andMotorways Starting January 5

Starting January 5, 2025, the National Highway Authority (NHA) will implement updated toll tax rates on highways and motorways across Pakistan to support road maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. For the M-1 motorway (Islamabad-Peshawar), car tolls will rise to Rs500, with buses and trucks facing higher adjustments. On the M-3 (Lahore-Abdul Hakeem), car tolls will increase to Rs700, while the M-5 (Multan-Sukkur) will charge Rs1,100 for cars. The M-14 (Dera Ismail Khan-Hakkla) toll for cars will be Rs600, and national highways will have car tolls set at Rs60, with higher rates for larger vehicles.

Key points such as the Kohat Tunnel and the Islamabad-Murree Expressway will also increase tolls, with cars now paying Rs150 at both locations. Despite rising costs, these changes aim to sustain infrastructure development and ensure smoother, safer travel experiences. Travellers are encouraged to check the updated rates to plan their journeys efficiently.
