The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a drought alert for Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab due to significantly below-average rainfall, with deficits recorded at -62% in Sindh and -52% in Balochistan.
Water levels in key reservoirs have dropped to critical levels, while rising temperatures are intensifying dry conditions. Several districts, including Tharparkar, Gwadar, and Bahawalpur, are experiencing mild to moderate drought.
Experts caution that a flash drought could emerge in the coming months, urging farmers and authorities to implement precautionary measures.
