The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has launched the 2024 English Access Scholarship Program, offering a life-changing opportunity for Pakistani students aged 13 to 20. This initiative will provide free English language classes to 200 deserving students, helping them broaden their academic, professional, and cultural horizons.
At the program’s launch, Consul General Scott Urbom reaffirmed the U.S. government’s dedication to empowering Pakistan’s youth through education. He emphasized the role of English proficiency in unlocking global opportunities and fostering mutual understanding between cultures. The program not only develops language skills but also introduces students to American values and culture, enriching their perspectives.
In collaboration with Evolution and prominent academic institutions like Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, and Sindh Agriculture University Umerkot, the program combines academic excellence with practical skills to create a strong foundation for students.
Funded by the U.S. Mission’s Regional English Language Office in Pakistan, the two-year program includes afterschool and intensive classes designed for talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It equips them with the tools needed to thrive in an interconnected world and improves their chances of participating in future U.S. exchange programs.
Since its inception in 2004, the Access program has benefited over 8,000 students from Sindh and Balochistan, playing a crucial role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development. For more details, visit the U.S. Regional English Language Office’s official page.
