The cost breakdown includes a Rs 70 petroleum levy, along with customs duties of Rs 15.28 on petrol and Rs 15.78 on diesel. Dealer commissions and oil marketing company margins further contribute to the total price, raising petrol to Rs 255.63 per litre and diesel to Rs 258.64 per litre.
This represents the highest petroleum levy in Pakistan’s history, significantly affecting fuel prices and driving up inflation.
