In a move towards sustainable urban development, 27 fully electric buses from China are set to commence operations in Punjab.
These buses are part of Pakistan’s initiative to promote environmentally friendly transportation while easing the burden on its increasingly congested transit systems. Manufactured by the Chinese company YUTONG, they are specifically designed to suit Pakistan’s climate and urban mobility requirements.
Key features include a nitrogen protection system for power batteries to minimize fire risks and a dual middle-door design with partitioned seating to improve passenger flow during peak hours.
Since entering the South Asian market in 2014, YUTONG has supplied buses for public transit, group transport, and airport shuttles. Additionally, the company has established a Knock-Down (KD) factory in Karachi, generating employment opportunities and supporting local manufacturing.
