The Government of Pakistan has announced an increase in fees for Machine-Readable Passports (MRPs), effective from March 7, 2024. Applicants submitting their passport applications on or after this date will be required to pay the new, higher fee. The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGI&P) clarified that if an applicant had already paid the old passport fee before March 7, 2024, but submits their passport application on or after this date, they must pay the price difference. The passport application will only be processed once the total enhanced cost is realized. These changes are crucial for individuals planning to apply for a passport, as they need to be aware of the new fees to avoid delays in their application process.
